Collaborative Divorce
A collaborative divorce is a unique process where both parties agree to maintain all issues outside of the Judge’s control. During a collaborative divorce, both parties are represented by a collaborative attorney. A neutral leads the process and additional professionals are used depending on the issues at hand. Each party’s attorney provides legal advice and advocates for their client, however, unlike a litigated divorce the attorneys cooperate with each other and keep it amicable and peaceful. While the collaborative process is not for everyone, it is certainly a very effective alternative for parties that have significant assets and wish to maintain civility and confidentiality throughout the divorce process.
